Spicy Braised Tofu

A spicy braised tofu dish that provides a healthy meal with deep flavor. Various vegetables and seasonings are combined to enhance the taste.

What You'll Need

Tofu1 block (380g)
Egg2
Onion½
Green onion50g
Cheongyang chili pepper3 (small)
Red chili pepper½
Perilla oil½ tbsp
Saltto taste
Jin soy sauce1.5 tbsp
Tuna sauce1 tbsp
Cooking wine1 tbsp
White sugar1 tsp
Flower salt⅓ tsp
Cooking oil1 tbsp
Minced garlic1 tbsp
Red chili powder2.5 tbsp
Gochujang½ tbsp

Instructions

Cut the tofu into 3 thick slices.

Slice the green onion into pieces about one finger-joint thick, and roughly chop the onion.

Diagonally slice the Cheongyang and red chili peppers.

Mix the jin soy sauce, tuna sauce, cooking wine, white sugar, and flower salt to make the seasoning sauce.

Add 1 tbsp cooking oil and ½ tbsp perilla oil to a pot, heat over medium heat, and stir-fry 1 tbsp minced garlic.

When the garlic is just about to sizzle, add the red chili powder and stir-fry.

Add the gochujang and stir-fry to coat in oil, then add the onion and green onion and stir-fry over low heat.

Place the seasoning sauce and fried eggs on top of the stir-fried vegetables, then place the tofu on top.

Pour the seasoning sauce over the tofu, add water, turn to high heat, cover with a lid, and boil for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, open the lid, add 300ml of water, add the Cheongyang chili peppers, and simmer over medium heat.

Finish by adding the green onion and remaining Cheongyang and red chili peppers, and add ½ tbsp perilla oil at the end to add flavor.
