Chicken Rice Bowl (Oyakodon)

This is a chicken rice bowl recipe that allows you to easily enjoy restaurant-quality taste at home.

What You'll Need

Chicken thigh100g
Egg1 piece
Onionapprox. 1/3 piece (80g)
Green onion1/3 cup (20g)
Water1/3 cup (60g)
Dark soy sauce3 tbsp (30g)
Brown sugar1 and 1/4 tbsp (15g)
Cooking wine1 tbsp (10g)
Rice1 bowl (200g)
Cooking oilto taste

Instructions

Place the chicken thigh on a cutting board and cut it into 2cm pieces.

Place the onion on the cutting board, cut in half, and slice into 0.3cm thick strips; slice the green onion diagonally into 0.3cm thick pieces.

Crack the egg into a bowl and beat it lightly with chopsticks.

Mix the dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and cooking wine in a bowl to make the sauce.

Grease a frying pan with cooking oil and place the chicken thigh pieces skin-side down to sear.

Once the chicken fat begins to render, place the sliced onions around the edges and press them down.

When the chicken turns golden brown, stir-fry with the onions.

Pour in the prepared sauce and water, then cover with a lid and simmer.

Open the lid, pour the beaten egg around the edges, sprinkle with green onion, and cover with the lid to finish.
