Stir-fried Dried Squid Strips

What You'll Need

White dried squid strips200g
Soju2-3 tbsp
Sugar2 tbsp
Red chili powder1/2-1 tsp
Damari soy sauce2 tbsp
Mirin2 tbsp
Plum extract3 tbsp
Gochujang4-5 tbsp (40-50g)
Starch syrup2 tbsp
GarlicA little

Instructions

Place the white dried squid strips in a bowl, add 2-3 tbsp of soju, and toss to soften them.

In another bowl, add 2 tbsp of sugar, red chili powder, and 2 tbsp of Damari soy sauce.

Add 2 tbsp of mirin and 3 tbsp of plum extract, and mix.

Add 4-5 tbsp of gochujang and mix.

Add 2 tbsp of starch syrup and mix the sauce evenly.

Place the sauce in a pan and heat.

Boil until the sauce bubbles and the large bubbles turn into small, thick bubbles to finish the sauce.

Once the sauce is done, turn off the heat and let it cool for a moment.

Add the prepared white dried squid strips to the cooled sauce and toss evenly.

Add a small amount of garlic and use chopsticks to gently scrape it onto the squid strips without mashing them.

Place the finished stir-fried dried squid strips on a plate to serve.
