Steamed Flatfish

A spicy and sweet steamed fish recipe that uses a mother-in-law's secret method to remove fishy odors and create an artisan flavor.

What You'll Need

Fish4 pieces
Cheongyang chili pepper2 pieces
White part of green onionHalf
Minced garlic1/2 tbsp
Jin soy sauce4 tbsp
Starch syrup2 tbsp
Red chili powder1 tbsp

Sesame oil1 tbsp
Sesame seedsA little

Instructions

After cleaning the fish, place it on a cutting board and make light incisions so the seasoning penetrates well.

Finely chop 2 Cheongyang chili peppers.

Thinly slice the white part of the green onion like the chili peppers.

In a bowl, make the sauce by adding 1/2 tbsp minced garlic, 4 tbsp Jin soy sauce, 2 tbsp starch syrup, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp red chili powder, a dash of pepper, some starch syrup or water, and the chopped green onion and Cheongyang chili.

Boil a little water in a pan in advance and place the cleaned fish on top.

Top the fish with the prepared sauce and steam it.

Flip the fish over, add the remaining sauce evenly, and continue to steam.

Once the steamed fish is done, place it on a plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds to finish.
